Suite for Impact Analysis and Data Lineage of a Data Warehouse

Eurokleis has collaborated to the development of a data warehouse for a big Italian company. Within this project, Eurokleis was responsible for the analysis and development of a customized solution for the storage of metadata and Impact Analysis and Data Lineage.

The proposed solution is a web application consisting of two main applications:

1) a back-end for the navigation based on the project or on different class of metadata (fueling systems, databases, ETL jobs or reports), all developed taking into account the possibility of setting ACLs for the individual user

2) a front-end dealing with the acquisition of metadata from computerized material (Word documents or Excel spreadsheets) or directly from the data processing system (software for the management of ETL jobs or systems database management).

The project lasted about two years and was divided into different several phases, during which Eurokleis refined the results for a stable end-product, monitoring all stages of data processing from the input to the reporting phase.

The last phase was related to Data Lineage and Impact Analysis of the information, considering the ubiquity of every single field.

The system is entirely made in PHP and Apache on AIX optimized platform.
The DBRMS was Oracle Database 10.2.
